Why Add a Bio Filter?
The Bio Filter fully treats the liquid waste from your Aquatron separator using a naturally occurring, renewable New Zealand material - giving results comparable to a UV or nitrate filter, with no power and no chemicals. The treated outflow can go direct to gardens or a soak hole as irrigation.
How the Bio Filter Works
A simple five-layer process treats the liquid before it drains away:
- Drip feeder - introduces the liquid slowly, at an even rate.
- Weed mat - stops anything travelling back up, and catches any larger bits.
- Bio material - a large body of natural material where the treatment happens.
- Second weed mat - a final barrier.
- Corrugated mat - the treated water flows out to a soak hole or leach field.
Compact enough for most sites - 2.4 m long × 1.4 m wide × 0.85 m high. Bio material lasts a couple of years.
