THE OTHER HALF OF OFF-GRID
Why Include a Grey Water System?
Your composting toilet only deals with the toilet waste - you still need to handle the water from your kitchen, laundry, shower, bath and basins. Whether you run an Aquatron or a Farmstyle system, a grey water system treats that household water safely before it disperses to ground.
How a Grey Water System Works
Household grey water is drained or pumped into a settling tank, where solids settle out and floating scum is retained. From there it flows into a pumice-filled filter tank before dispersing to a soakage field. If secondary treatment is required, the pumice tank is left out and the water flows from the settling tank to an AES soakage field, where the secondary treatment takes place.
